Have you been admitted to a study program or have you started your medical education in a country without integrated practical service before 2012?

Then you can apply for a LIS1 position (practical service) in Norway and complete this on a license. You apply for authorisation first when the entire service has been completed and all learning objectives have been approved.

Which countries do this apply to?

  • Denmark
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Liechtenstein
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Portugal
  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom

LIS1 license

After you have received an offer for a LIS1 position, you need to apply for a LIS1 license. You apply through Altinn, and have to attach the following documents:

  • diploma in original language accompanied by official translation if they are not in English
  • confirmation of LIS1 position from the employer
  • confirmation of the admission letter for the study program or attestation regarding the entry date issued by the university

All documents must be scanned colour copies of the original documents.

Attestation of completed LIS1

You can apply for authorisation first when the entire service has been completed and all learning objectives have been approved.

Along with your application you will have to submit the attestation of completed LIS1 issued by the institutions you have been practicing in. To do that you must fill out the form in complete (doc).

Available LIS1 positions

Here you will find the available LIS1 positions, deadlines and more information.

If you have been admitted to a study program after 2012, you must undergo a mandatory practical period in the country where you graduated. Additionally, you have to be registered and have all rights to practice the profession in your country of education, before you can apply for authorisation here in Norway.
