Ved fødsel utenfor sykehus skal barnet få tilbud om henvisning til screening av hørsel
Barn født utenfor sykehus skal tilbys henvisning til screening av hørsel umiddelbart etter fødsel. Alle barn skal ha likt tilbud om nyfødtscreening av hørsel.
Jordmor henviser til nyfødtscreening av hørsel. Time bør tildeles innen barnet er 4 uker gammelt.
Alle foreldre til nyfødte skal gis tilbud om å delta i nyfødtscreening av hørsel. Foreldrene skal gis tilstrekkelig informasjon for å kunne samtykke til screeningen. Foreldre kan reservere seg mot hørselsscreening. Dette skal i tilfelle dokumenteres i barnets journal. Fødeinstitusjonen sender beskjed om reservasjon til helsestasjon og høresentral.
Målsetningen med nyfødtscreeningen er bedret utfall for hørselshemmede barn ved tidlig identifisering, diagnostikk og intervensjon av hørselstap hos små barn.
