Apply for a Student license (stud.med) – educated in the EU/EEA
You can be granted a student license if you:
- have completed all pre-clinical exams
- in general, you do not have more than one year left until the expected graduation
You can apply for a student license at the earliest when you have passed the ninth semester.
You need to upload the following documents to Altinn:
- Transcript (you must choose attachment type "Vitnemål/diplom")
- Documentation confirming that you have passed your ninth semester and completed all preclinical courses. The certificate must be issued by your educational institution.
- A certificate letter from your educational institution that confirms the expected completion of the education (graduation). (The date of the license can not be set earlier than one year before the expected date of the graduation)
Documentation must not be older than three months.
The documents must be scanned colour copies of the original documents.
We make you aware that a student license can only be granted when there is a maximum of one year left until the final examination. This means that if the university confirms that the final exam is in June, the medical license will not be valid before until June the previous year. Therefore, it is important that your university confirms the correct date for your expected graduation.
The assessment of student license is done continuously.
Application for extension of a student license must be submitted through Altinn.
You need to upload the following documents to Altinn:
- a new certificate letter that states the expected graduation from your educational institution (you must choose attachment type "Vitnemål/diplom").
- documentation of justification / reason for extended graduation from your educational institution
- transcript
Health Personnel Register (HPR)
Posting and printing of your student license can easily be done in the Health Personnel Register (HPR). All rights that follow from a student license are taken care of by the entry in HPR. Your registration in HPR will not be available until the license is valid.
