Media campaigns

Focus on COPD in 2006
Ever since 2003 mass media campaigns have been an important part of Norway's tobacco control efforts. The reason for this was the government's goal to reduce youth smoking prevalence by 50 % during the five years from 2002 to 2007.

After one year with the ban on smoking in bars and restaurants in Norway, the first results are coming out from the evaluations.
Campaign attacking the tobacco industry
In October 2003 a new governmental mass media campaign was launched in Norway. The campaign was targeting the tobacco industry, focusing on addiction, product manipulation and unethical marketing in a global perspective.
Australian success campaign also in Norway
After many years without any larger media campaigns, the Norwegian Directorate for Health and Social Affairs was able to launch a new campaign in January 2003: ”Every cigarette is doing you damage”.
